Oak Knoll District
Wine Details

“Although this is just our second bottling from this magnificent Oak Knoll vineyard, our Winemaker has been working with the fruit since the 2007 vintage. The lean soils of this warm and uniquely exposed “bowl" site yield clusters in below average size, resulting in character and richness. The diminutive berries permit a rare and perfect ripening year over year. We wanted to round out our beautiful Bordeaux assortment of wines with this classic Rhône varietal, so when the fruit became available, we knew we had to have it!”

Tasting Notes
"This is a wine with a lot to say. Varietally correct and reminiscent its Southern Rhone forebearers, Sophie’s sits inky purple in the glass. Powerful, feminine and complex you are met with pretty nose of raspberry, ether, orange oil, black cherry and a hint of olive tapenade. Warmer flavors broaden in the mouth ranging from sweet medium roast coffee and baking spices to a super-long finish of chewy tannins, sticky blackberry jam and fresh cracked green peppercorns.”
