HOOPES ROSE NAPA VALLEY
Napa Valley
2016
Wine Details

“Rosé is a beautiful wine and I can often be found with a chilled glass of it in my hand taking in the beauty of our vineyards. We wanted our rosé to find inspiration in our flagship wines, and to emphasize Napa’s most special grape, Cabernet Sauvignon, so we decided to make a rosé primarily from our Cabernet Sauvignon production. During fermentation of our red wines, about 10% of the juice was bled off, in the traditional Saignée method, making this rosé speak as closely as possible to our legendary home vineyard. Just like I'm Spencer’s scion, this rosé is my pet project!

The 2016 vintage is the last of the recent spate of drought years. Another low yield, early vintage with wonderful concentration of bright, fresh fruit flavor and full of richness and body. Truly a snapshot of the vintage, our Rose comes from the saignèe juice from all our red varietals harvested giving a delightfully rare complexity on the palate.”

Tasting Notes
A scrumptious, fresh wine with sweet aromas of rose petal, crème soda, red cherry and ruby red grapefruit. The volume of aroma translates beautifully on the palate with the juiciness of ripe strawberries followed by the fruity quality of grapefruit minus the bitterness. An active and present mouth brings a bit of seriousness to this fresh, bright wine.
